The Flying Dutchman

Like the majority of  us in Singapore and our generation and our dad's generation. Many hated insurance agents or people talking to them about insurance. What made them gather such 'disgust' and hate towards the people in my industry?

I was at the financial congress for 2014 a couple of days ago and am motivated by what The Flying Dutchman (if you don't know, he is a popular DJ) had shared with us. The part about us as agents who sold policies and programs to our clients and then 'disappear' and the part about being a friend after clients, building up the relationships and getting to know more about our clients.

That actually made him trusts and understands more about us as consultants and made him plan for his future for himself and his family. And I'm proud that his agent did a great job! For the past five years I had been pursuing this commitment towards being friends rather than agent with my clients and although I might not have achieved 100% of them, I am sure I had hit more than 50% of it :)

Without this agent of his, The Flying Dutchman wouldn't have bought the policies and coverages and he might not be able to claim a lot or even any of them during the recent heart attack. Time and again I preached about the importance of coverage even if you have a tight budget. Can I ask, if you're really that low on your finance, wouldn't it be even worst if something were to happen to you or any of your family members?

Are you covered sufficiently or even with any coverage? Or do you think that such incidents like illness or disabilities might not strike you even in your thirties? Think about it....

No money how?

What a year!
