Being the eldest child in the family, growing up my parents always emphasised that I needed to grow up fast and be more mature. Then, I would be able to take care of my siblings. This framed my mindset since young, to have a large sense of responsibility towards my family.

I didn’t grow up with much so during school, while my peers were planning to pursue their education or planning their graduation trips, I had only one thing on my mind and that was to find a job. I started building my career from a young age but when people asked, “What do you want to do in the future?” I had no clue. I was just going with the flow, with the mindset that whatever I do.

Everything was going well until the sole breadwinner of my house suddenly picked up and left. Leaving us with their debts. Solely surviving on what’s left in the bank.

At this point, I realise the importance of savings. To be able to have enough during unforeseen circumstances and rainy days. I experienced first-hand the effects of not having a solid financial planning.

Finding my purpose here is to educate and share my stories. Planning for your future when you have not thought of.

“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing.” Theodore Roosevelt
