Just yesterday, the Singapore government rolled out a series of initiatives for those who are affected during the Covid-19 incident, called the Care and Support Package.
The second stimulus package is to provide eligible self employed and free lancers in specific trade $1000 a month for up to 9 months. I just overheard of this person upon hearing this “good news” quickly terminated his current part time job which pays him around $1300/month so that he can be eligible for the package as he holds another free lance job.
In this time and need, I shouldn’t jump into conclusion and judge this person of his actions. But it kind of makes me wonder, there are people out there without jobs, can I Guess a percentage of them are like him? Has the capability to work, abled body (yes I know this person personally) but yet relies on the government to provide for them when such chances comes about…
Yes by “doing nothing” this individual gets a payout of $1000 and instead of working as a part timer to earn his $1300. I do hope this group of individuals are a very very small group of Singaporeans. :(
